Gravel art rocks a go-go

Stopped by the thrift store today and found a huge basket of vintage gravel art rocks. The really cool old gravel art pieces on ebay go for a pretty penny, so I thought I would try my hand at making a replica or two for myself. The lady was adding up the price of each little bag and finally gave up and just gave me a cheap price for the whole thing. Here's to hoping I can actually do this without screwing things up...

Lustre-Creme. If it was good enough for the stars of the '50s then its good enough for me

If you google Lustre Creme, there is no shortage of 1950's ads featuring Hollywood stars boasting about how this shampoo makes their hair beautiful. I actually found a store that still manufactures and sells it. I am not sure how close it is to the original product, but it does have a nice clean smell. My order came in today and they are having a 2 for the price of 1 special. So here is to hoping that it gives me Hollywood hair. After all, 4 out of 5 former top movie stars used it! The ads say so, so it must be true!
Update- Just used it and a little goes a long way. I have short hair, and about a dime size makes a lot of foamy lather. The smell is great and the first rinse leaves your hair squeaky clean! I love it!! It has a wonderful clean smell... not the apply fruity stuff of today. I can only explain it as a vintage clean smell.

Vintage Pole Ornament

Its incredibility strange that just a few posts ago I was commenting on how much I love vintage pole ornaments that cities put up on street lights around Christmas time. I have always loved these things, ever since I was a child. Its strange because as fate would have it, our neighboring city is actually SELLING their old pole ornaments because they are replacing them with new LED ones (yuk!). So yesterday we drove through the snow storm and picked one up. I'd say $50 for a little vintage history is well worth it. The lady at the Chamber of Commerce said they are around 40 years old, and I believe it based on the wiring. So what am I going to do with an 8ft lighted tree that is meant to be attached to the side of a telephone pole? Well, next Christmas I plan to put it on the roof of my house, or even put it in the living room against the wall as a quirky conversation piece.

In the story of my life, Lilly will always be the first love I ever had. Some things leave this world too quick, but make a big enough impression to last a lifetime. Lilly was one of those things. Thank you my angel on earth, for the years of unconditional love and happiness. Daddy will see you again someday. Until then, play and have fun.
